Heb Een Mooie Tijd in deze Hinjewadi Café – Have a beautiful time at this Hinjewadi Café

Mooie Café & Bar is inspired by the Dutch word Mooie, which means giving a sense of satisfaction or happiness.

Recently opened on the Bhumkar Grunge Road in Hinjewadi, Mooie strives to give their customers a new experience each time they visit – with their food, décor, and hospitality; giving one a sense of serendipity.

So here’s my experience of the food tasting there.

It is a pretty spacious café situated in the back of the building that houses the large New Poona Bakery [same owners, BTW]. And my first reaction upon seeing it, was “Wow!”. A very well made space with one stretch of wall turned into a sidewalk café with actual pavement and lamps and comfortable chairs. A bookstand in one corner has some interesting reads.

Mooie is still awaiting their beer and wine license so in the meantime, I tried some mocktails.

The Lemongrass Mojito had a lovely hit of the lemongrass, just as expected. I am a big fan of lemongrass flavor and am always up for trying new stuff with it. Perfectly chilled and bang-on flavors.

Lemongrass Mojito [Rs. 130]

The Smooth Mushrooms was served with mascapone cheese, with a black pepper and garlic marination and drizzled with balsamic reduction. Nice spicy masala thanks to the black pepper and ginger, it went well with the juicy moist mushrooms.

Smooth Mushrooms [Rs. 150]

The Crunchy Chicken Pops were heavenly. Perfectly cooked and fried chicken nuggets with a crunchy exterior coating and a delicious spicy aioli dip to go with it. Pair this with a chilled beer and your evenings are sorted. #DeliciousDelicious

Crunchy Chicken Pops [Rs. 210]

However the Silken Tofu and Broccoli and the Crunchy Lamb Escalopes were chewy and nothing like their names at all. #Disappointed

Silken Tofu and Broccoli [Rs. 160]
Crunchy Lamb Escalopes [Rs. 240]

The Chicken Soup for the Soul had a very unusual presentation. Made with clear chicken consomme, matzo balls, grains and flavoursome vegetables, it had a little different taste but enjoyed the flavors.

Chicken Soup for the Soul [Rs. 240]

The Tomato Red Pizza had both fresh roma tomatoes as well as sun ripened ones which gave a slightly higher tanginess to the pizza while the Farm Bianco provided a nice acidic hit of the cheese.

Tomato Red Pizza [Rs. 300] and Farm Bianco [Rs. 300] half-and-half

The Harissa Paneer Steak was a pleasure to look at. The sides of spaghetti zucchini and assorted vegetables too were nicely made but the punch was provided by the harissa marination on the paneer. #YumYum

Harissa Paneer Steak [Rs. 260]

The Asian Fish ‘En Papillote’. was one of the best ‘en papillote’ fishes I have tasted. Such perfection on the cook of the fish, it was as easy to cut as butter with a hot knife. The accompanied lemon basil rice and fresh Thai herbs added another layer of complexity and flavor to the dish.

Dessert is probably the most important stage of the meal, since it will be the last thing your guests remember before they pass out all over the table.” – William Powell

The Baked New York Cheesecake with blueberry compote was a complete #foodporn dish. A crisp biscuit base with a delicious cheesecake on top. Definitely in the Top 5 Best Cheesecakes I’ve had in Pune. #YumYum #HighlyRecommended #DeliciousDelicious

Baked New York Cheesecake [Rs. 220]

The Double Chocolate Brownie was served with Bailey’s Irish ice cream. While the ice cream was delicious [Bailey’s, of course], the sugar in the brownie had crystallized so felt bit grainy. Not enjoyable at all.

Double Chocolate Brownie [Rs. 220]

A Sachertorte is a specific type of chocolate cake, or torte invented in Austria. The Chocolate Cherry Sachertorte [Rs. 220] available at Mooie Café & Bar had a very low proportion of the cherry compared to the chocolate so I did not enjoy it much. As a standalone chocolate cake slice, it was a good one.

The Tutti Frutti Trifle Pudding was quite literally color in a glass. Very bright and vibrant looking dessert with a decent taste however this is better suited for kids than adults.

Tutti Frutti Trifle Pudding [Rs. 220]

Mooie Café & Bar also embarks a soothing experience true to its name, with some great books to read and a space perfect to indulge in a sedentary state of comfort.
