A café in the day and a bar in the evenings. That defines the essence and soul of Hop-In as they relaunched in Kalyani Nagar recently.
With a cool ambiance that is inspired from our feathered friends and their habitat, Hop-In manages to achieve the fine balance between a relaxed café and a rocking bar. A Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of sorts, albeit both heroes in this case. 😉
A fun spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine floor which showcases a fun ambiance with ample use of ropes, birdhouses and marbles on the walls and an abstract design of pipes on the ceiling. Lots of card and board games are available to ensure you have a fun time at the place.

Tushar being a dear friend, I decided to go check out the place one fine evening.
Having recently introduced their quarter bottle system in cocktails at Hop-In, the Pauvas, that’s where we decided to kick-start our festivities.
5 Chi is a fun and potent drink made with Whisky, White Rum, Tequila, Gin, and Vodka while the Narangi Punch had White Rum for company.

Tharra made with Gin, and Blue Curacao felt a little too sweet for my liking while the Lugdi with Malibu Coconut Rum had a pinkish tinge and looked more like a popular digestive medicine. 😀
However to be fair to the drinks, my co-diners who actually ordered them, liked them so full marks there. And reasonably priced at Rs. 350 per pauva, it’s not too heavy on the pocket either.
Giving us company over drinks were Kheema Khari and Dhokla Pakoda. Two very innovative dishes that delivered on the flavors as well. Crispy khari topped with flavorful mutton mince was quite a revelation in terms of flavors while the classic Gujju dhokla found a new avatar ensconced inside a besan coating and deep fried. The spicy mint chutney provided a wonderful foil to the sweetness of the dhokla. #YumYum #HighlyRecommended

Considering my dietary restrictions, Tushar was kind enough to recommend the Hop-In Tandoor Lollipop which sported a lovely char on the edges thanks to the tandoor. Absolutely delicious, this was my pick of the evening. #YumYum #HighlyRecommended

The Cheese Seekh Kebab had small chunks of cheese incorporated in the seekh which didn’t allow it to shine through. Suggestion provided to the chef to probably incorporate it in molten form.

The Hop-In Crispy Chicken were deep-fried chicken strips served in a small pail. Nice crunchy bite thanks to the golden-fried coating however the chicken itself felt a little dry.

Already full thanks to the warm hospitality of the team at Hop-In, we only ordered a couple of mains, going splitsies.
The Chicken Lasagna was an absolute comfort food while the Upside Down Bowl full of rice, curry and half fry egg on top was a very filling option. Different cuisines, yet similar expressions after polishing the bowls clean. #DeliciousDelicious

Tushar has tried to make this into an ideal neighborhood bar with happy hours, regular gigs, and VFM food options, an optional second home. Operational from 12 noon till 12 midnight, this is one place that has the ability to cater to you in the day and pamper you in the evenings. With happy hours that run from 12 noon till 8 pm every day and a Zomato Gold membership to boot, Hop-In is certain to play host all day long.
